The Central Regional Best Midwife 2019 who works with Nyankomasi Ahenkro Health Center Mrs Regina Amanda Gyamera Hagan has said, the mindset that, nurses and midwives are disrespectful is totally wrong. She said, nursing is a noble profession and the personnel’s have had the requisite training so there is no way a health personnel will behave otherwise.

According to her, being a nurse or a midwife is the most difficult profession ever: because nobody comes to a health facility with happiness either the patient or the caretaker, so the least action from a nurse or a midwife is considered as a sign of disrespect which is false.
Mrs. Gyamera Hagan made the comment in an interview with the media after she was crowned as the best midwife in the whole central region .
She added that, if a nurse or midwife is disrespectful, it may be as a result of his or her upbringing because charity they say begins at home: if a child has a poor moral background, if he or she becomes a teacher, doctor, nurse etc, their character will be exposed. She therefore pleaded with parent to morally train their children in Christ so that, such habit can be minimize as they grow up.

The Award was held at Bolgatanga on the international day of the midwives on the 5 of may.

The International Day of the Midwives was first celebrated May 5th 1991, and has since been observed in over 50 nations around the world.[1]

The idea of having a day to recognize and honor midwives came out of the 1987 International Confederation of Midwives conference in the Netherlands.
